Captain Nik's Hook
A magical hook-hand prosthesis.
This enchanted prosthesis looks like a red-and-white striped candy cane with a solid gold cup for attaching it to the stump of a wrist. While the hook appears round and blunted, it is a remarkably effective weapon. The faint scent of peppermint constantly hangs about the hook and it radiates a strong aura of transmutation magic. Captain Nik’s Hook only functions if attached to the stump of an arm as a prosthesis, and has no effect if wielded by a character who has use of both hands.
Captain Nik’s Hook counts as a normal hook hand, and counts as a magical weapon for determining what creatures can be harmed by it. If wielded in combat, the hook deals damage as if the wearer were one size category larger (d4 for small creatures, d6 for medium). In addition, anyone wearing the hook hand gains a +4 enhancement bonus to his Strength score.
Although Captain Nik’s Hook does not allow for fine manipulation, it is infused with magic that bolsters a spellcaster’s somatic components—you can use a hand stump outfitted with the hook to fulfill any somatic components for casting arcane spells. You can make touch attacks with spells using Captain Nik’s Hook, either by making a normal attack with the hook (in which case it deals hook hand damage plus the spell effect), or by making a touch attack with the hook (in which case you gain a +4 bonus on the attack roll and the save DC of the spell increases by +1, but you do not do hook hand damage).
